Huawei HMS App Innovation Global Contest for Developers 2025: The Huawei HMS App Innovation Global Contest aims to inspire talented developers across the globe to create seamless, smart, and innovative digital experiences, and explore the future of digital intelligence. By highlighting pioneering HMS open capabilities, the competition gives app developers the tools to build tomorrow’s all-connected world.

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It is the largest telecommunications equipment maker in the world, having overtaken Ericsson in 2012. Huawei was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, a former engineer in the People’s Liberation Army. At the time of its establishment Huawei was focused on manufacturing phone switches, but has since expanded its business to include building telecommunications networks; providing operational and consulting services and equipment and many more.

Huawei HMS App Innovation Global Contest Eligibility Criteria.

The Huawei HMS App Innovation Global Contest is open to developers from all over the world. Participation is as simple as signing up with your HUAWEI ID.

Individuals aged 17 and under are not eligible to enter the contest.

Employees of Huawei and its affiliates, and their immediate relatives, are not eligible to enter the contest.

You can participate in the contest on your own, or as part of a team. All members of the team must belong to the same contest region.

Rules for setting up a team

  1. Each contestant is only eligible to join a single team.
  2. Each team can have no more than 3 members.
  3. Each team should have a team leader who is responsible for team management, such as inviting or deleting members and submitting works.
  4. A team member can apply to join or leave a team.
  5. The score for a contest submission belongs to the team. If a team member leaves the team, all existing scores will continue to belong to the team, rather than the departing member.

You will be disqualified in the event of the following:

  1. You plagiarize the work of others;
  2. Third-party code plug-ins used in your works are not authorised, and/or are the source of a legal dispute; or
  3. Your works violate any relevant terms, service agreements, or rules applicable to HUAWEI DEVELOPER services, including but not limited to the HUAWEI Developer Service Agreement, Agreement on Use of Huawei APIs, and AppGallery Review Guidelines.

Huawei HMS App Innovation Global Contest Entry Requirements.

  1. Submitted works must integrate at least one HMS open capability and run seamlessly on devices that have HMS installed.
  2. Works may use third-party game engines, middleware, open-source software, or code libraries, so long as they are authorised in advance by the respective rights holders.
  3. Contestants must fully comply with the HUAWEI Developer Service Agreement and any other relevant terms and/or service agreements for developer services, including but not limited to the HUAWEI Developer Merchant Service Agreement and HUAWEI Partner Paid Service Agreement, as well as terms and/or service agreements related to the use of AppGallery Connect and HMS Core.
  4. Apps that are to be released on AppGallery must fully comply with the relevant release policies.

Notes

  • Only the team leader’s account can be used to integrate HMS open capabilities and submit works.
  • Attachments for submitted works must be in ZIP or RAR format and cannot exceed 200 MB. Such attachments include the app introduction documents and APKs.

Huawei HMS App Innovation Global Contest Evaluation Criteria.

1. Preliminary Review Checklist

  • Whether the registration information is complete.
  • Whether the information about the submitted work is complete.
  • Whether the work uses HMS open capabilities.
  • Whether the work is available on AppGallery.

2. Preliminary Rating Rules

Total score = Preliminary judging panel score (80 points) + AppGallery bonus points (10 points will be added after the app is successfully released on AppGallery) + HMS integration bonus points

2.1 Judging Panel Score

  • Design, technology, and user experience (20 points): is stable and functional in real life and features impressive interactions, a user-friendly interface, and outstanding visual and sound effects.
  • Originality (30 points): comes endowed with distinctive and innovative attributes which cannot be found in similar apps and remain attractive to users.
  • Social value (30 points): addresses an issue of widespread concern and offers new solutions for a specific user group and/or scenario.

2.2 HMS Integration Bonus Points

A maximum of 10 points can be added for HMS integration. 4 points will be added for integrating each of the following kits: IAP, Ads Kit, Map Kit, Push Kit, Location Kit, ML Kit, AR Engine, Nearby Service, Wireless Kit, hQUIC Kit, Network Kit, CG Kit, Scene Kit, Wear Engine, DeviceVirtualization Engine, and Cast Engine. For other kits, 2 points will be added for each.

3. Public Rating Rules

  • Shortlisted works will be ranked according to the number of votes each receives during the exhibition period, with the following formula used:
  • Public rating score = 10 x (Number of votes for a work/Number of votes for the work in first place)

4. Final Rating Rules

Total score = Final judging panel score (80 points) + Public rating score (10 points) + HMS integration bonus points

4.1 Final Judging Panel Score

How to Apply Huawei HMS App Innovation Global Contest for Developers 2025.

10th June – 20th August – Registration & submission 

Create works that integrate HMS open capabilities and submit entries on the contest’s official website or Devpost.

Sign in to HUAWEI DEVELOPERS with a valid HUAWEI ID (register for a HUAWEI ID if you do not have one) and click Sign up. If you intend to be a team leader, click New team and enter the relevant team information. If you intend to be a team member, click Join team and enter the name of the team you wish to join. If you already signed up via Devpost, there is no need to create an additional team on the contest page, but in order to start developing, please create a HUAWEI ID and verify your identity.

Entry submission

After integrating HMS Core, submit the work on the contest’s official website or Devpost. The team leader will need to click “Submit work” on the contest details page to enter the app name, ID, description, and upload attachments with APKs and documents introducing the work before 18:00 on 20th August 2025 (GMT+2). If you do not submit any works prior to the deadline, it will be deemed as a voluntarily withdrawal from the contest.

21st August – 9th September – Preliminary Review

The judging panel will review the submitted works and select 20 works from each region for the Public Review and Finals stages.

10th – 23rd September Public Review

Shortlisted works will be exhibited on the contest’s official website and HUAWEI AppGallery during a global promotional period until 24:00 on 23rd September (GMT+2), and further selections will be based on the number of votes and downloads that each shortlisted work receives from the public.

October

Regional Finals Each region will hold its own finals in October. The judging panel will rank the 20 shortlisted works according to a comprehensive scoring formula, in which the judging panel and public rating scores are added.
